SUMMARY:Capri
DESCRIPTION:A place only love can take you\nWhat a pleasure it was to work with this amazing cast!\nJoin us for the free\, world premiere reading of an original musical: Capri! Every year\, Skyline Theatre Company has an open call for original musicals. In partnership with the Stages Festival\, Skyline offers emerging writers the opportunity to have their musical read by professional artists\, on stage\, for the first time. \nThis year’s musical\, Capri\, comes to us from Germaine Shames (Book and Lyrics)\, and Paul Scherer (Music). The story follows a schoolteacher\, desperate to save his dying wife\, who is drawn into a conspiracy to scam a family of recent Italian immigrants — the same family into which his only son hopes to marry. \nThe story\, based on its creator’s own family history\, addresses immigration\, healthcare\, economic and social inequities…issues which remain with us today. Yet\, where would we be without our dreamers? Fraught with moral dilemmas\, laced with humor\, and illumined by grace\, Capri reminds us that the best time to be alive is always now. \nMarch 18 at 7pm at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation \nFree and open to the public \nThis event is part of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance 2022 Stages Festival\, made possible by support from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts\, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts; Bank of America; The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey; OceanFirst Foundation; New Jersey Historical Commission; and Fund for the New Jersey Blind. www.njtheatrealliance.org/stages \n \n
