Kate Cummings is an actor/singer/dancer originally born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, now based in New York City. She spent the last four years of her life studying and training at the University of Michigan in the Musical Theatre program, and received her Bachelors in Fine Arts in the spring of 2024. At Michigan, Kate directed and produced a production of the musical VANITIES, where she worked directly with the original composer/lyricist of the show, David Kirshenbaum, to adapt the score for her 9 person cast (traditionally 3). The reimagined production premiered in the Fall of 2023. In addition to attending the University of Michigan, Kate studied physical theatre and clowning with the Michael Chekhov Europe Association as well as acting with Michael Chekhov NYC. Kate is a professionally trained singer and she particularly loves to play with folk and jazz vocal stylings. In 2024, Kate was one of two recipients of the University of Michigan’s Actor’s Equity/Alan Eisenberg Award to recognize outstanding talent and career potential. Most recently, Kate performed in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan in the Japan Tour of RENT as Alexi Darling.
